DITSOMA - Design Is The Science Of Making Art

Blogpost

In my email sign-offs, I often use DITSOMA, signifying "Design Is The Science Of Making Art." Reflecting on my early days as a first-year architecture student, I erroneously believed that designing a house was merely about creating visually pleasing or artistic images. However, I soon discovered that every drawn line carries profound meaning—an insight that reshaped my understanding.

To me, art is an unfiltered expression, a mirage of thoughts seeking meaning and connection. It embodies the creator's authentic voice, a unique form of expression that shares perspectives on the world. Yet, in the artist's pursuit of meaning, design emerges as a potent tool, capable of transforming raw expressions into purposeful and resonant forms.

Understanding design as the careful orchestration of elements to breathe life into raw ideas, I recognize its role beyond a visual spectacle. It transcends mere aesthetics, crafting replicable creations that resonate emotionally and purposefully with a diverse audience. Design, I believe, is art in expression but scientific in creation.

As a Creative Consultant at Void Studio today, success isn't confined to aesthetics alone but lies in unraveling the narrative within each client's unique story. Our approach hinges on connecting art—a story of raw expression—with design, transforming the latter into the science of making art tangible. We leverage design's power to shape brand and product strategies authentically, ensuring a meaningful connection with the intended audience.

Our work exemplifies the transformative potential of design, where authentic ideas transcend the canvas, forming meaningful connections. If you resonate with this perspective of seeing products or brands as a blend of authentic expression and tangible design, let's collaborate.
